Oh, where do we begin to describe our love of this fabulous Colorado retreat.  We never expected to leave but we have an opportunity to acquire another home that has been in the family since 1781. We have been blessed. Rarely do properties of this historic significance and beauty come available.

A historic treasure, artifact that has been rescued, truly one of a kind, absolutely irreplaceable, this is the site, original cabin, barn and stock yards of the first Denver South Park railroad settlement spur on Ohio Creek. Meticulously restored with attention to detail utilizing reclaimed lumber, local logs and salvaged barn materials.  Hinkle’s Spur is nestled on 40.59 acres on Ohio Creek between Gunnison and Crested Butte, Colorado.

The kitchen features hickory cabinets, custom stainless counters, antique butcher block and the range is an electric replica wood burner made by Heartland in Canada. Hickory and quartzite flagstone floors are warmed by boiler fired in-floor heat creating an unbelievable cozy lifestyle. Stoned bath and shower floors were double coiled for ensured warmth.

Wildlife viewing abounds out every window with deer, elk, ducks, geese, hummingbirds and multitudes of native birds.
The four stall horse barn was replicated on its original site utilizing all reclaimed barn board and materials. Corrals and fencing are replicated using local logs and rails. The trout pond boasts a record 9 pound 8 ounce rainbow to date and a few steps away is nearly a quarter mile of private Ohio Creek with Corps approved structures to enhance stream fishing. Additional residence of approximately 3500 sq. ft. has been approved

This historic ranch in the beautiful, pristine Ohio Creek Valley of Gunnison County, Colorado was resurrected to provide a fortunate few a truly unique homestead. The purchasers of this quietly historic property had a vision of reclaiming the spirit and vitality that permeated the early settlers of the west. Jake and Wendy Jacobs carved out the original 1885 cabin and barns along with 40 acres where they have restored a dream and reside as their home. The remaining ranch was sculptured into five exclusive homesteads offering the best of Colorado.

Ohio Creek meanders through the middle of the ranch privately offering nearly a mile of the best trout habitat in Colorado. To date the record Rainbow Trout is 9 lbs 8 oz. Senior water rights and location ensure year round flow. Corp. of Engineer approved creek and fish habitat was meticulously designed and installed by Bob Rosette.

Lush, reclaimed hay meadows wave with some of the highest quality horse hay in Colorado. An equestrian paradise for those who enjoy horses with direct access to Gunnison National Forest and Mill Creek Wilderness Area.

Unspoiled vistas abound from this wide open valley with ample sunshine year round. The ranch is bordered on the east by Gunnison National Forest boasting panoramic views of Red, Flattop and Whetstone mountains where literally hundreds of elk winter. Gazing north is the magnificent Anthracite Mountain Range and Carbon Peak then peering on to the west is the mysterious Baldy Mountains, West Elk Wilderness and infamous Storm Pass. Drifting southward you absorb an expansive view down valley over a virgin ranch conservation property. Located on paved County Road 730 the ranch affords ease of access year round with superbly maintained roads.
